Getting Unstuck
Sometimes I just feel stuck. It’s not that I can’t make an executive decision – I don’t know what to do. (If I knew what to do, I imagine, I wouldn’t have trouble doing it.) I go spinning from one idea to the next, back to the first one, seeing the pros and cons of each possibility. The other week I was talking through this with my spiritual guide. It’s awfully hard to hear the quiet, calm voice within when you are floundering about, saying “WHAT am I going to do? I don’t know!” She interrupted my spinning by asking, “What if you did know?”I took a breath and tried to imagine, or guess. Luckily, that question wasn’t at the same level as the one I was operating at before. Imagining the experience of knowing is very different from thinking through the pros and cons of different scenarios. Imagining a feeling of being different is different from a simple cognitive process of imagining the pros and cons of different scenarios. What other ways do you get unstuck? What other questions do you ask yourself?
